Cap Compression Moulding Machines (CCMM)

Rotary cap compression moulding machines for high-volume closures: water, carbonated soft drink, juice, dairy and edible-oil caps. Compression moulding has no runners or sprues, uses less energy and makes lighter, more consistent caps than conventional injection moulding. HassanPlas supplies the complete cap line from resin feeding to the packed carton.

How CCM works

Continuous, runner-free cap production

  1. Continuous extrusion. An extruder melts HDPE or PP at a lower temperature than injection moulding needs, and feeds it steadily.
  2. Precise dosing. A rotating cutter slices the melt into pellets of exactly the cap's weight.
  3. Compression. Each pellet drops into an open cavity on the rotating carousel, and the punch closes to compress it into the full cap shape, threads included.
  4. Cooling & ejection. The cap cools as the carousel turns and is ejected. Production never stops for a "shot", because every station is always at some stage of the cycle.

Why compression

The economics of high-volume caps

01

Zero runner waste

No sprue, no runner and no hot-runner system. Every gram of resin goes into a cap, so there is less regrind and less material cost.

02

Lower energy

Lower melt temperature and continuous running avoid the heat-up and injection peaks of shot-by-shot moulding.

03

Lighter caps

Compression packs material evenly with low internal stress, which supports thinner, lighter cap designs such as short-neck PCO 1881 closures.

04

Dimensional stability

No gate mark and less moulded-in stress mean better roundness and more consistent sealing on fast capping lines.

05

Faster cycles

Caps cool quickly in the cavity while the carousel keeps turning, giving very high output for the floor space.

06

Clean surface

No gate vestige on top of the cap, so the surface is ideal for printing your brand logo.

Closures for water, beverage & oil

  • Mineral water: PCO 1881 and PCO 1810, plus 29/25 and 30/25 lightweight caps.
  • Carbonated soft drinks: pressure-rated PCO 1881 and 1810 closures.
  • Juice, tea & dairy: 38 mm and wide-neck closures, including hot-fill-capable designs.
  • Edible oil & household: HDPE and PP screw caps in custom colours.
  • Tamper evidence: bands formed on a slitting and folding machine downstream.

Frequently asked questions

What is a cap compression moulding machine?

A cap compression moulding machine (CCMM) continuously extrudes plastic and cuts it into precise melt pellets. Each pellet drops into an open mould cavity on a rotating carousel and is compressed into a finished cap. There are no runners or sprues, so there is no runner waste.

Is compression moulding better than injection moulding for caps?

For high-volume, simple-geometry caps such as water, CSD and juice closures, compression moulding usually wins on material use, energy, cap weight and dimensional stability. Injection moulding is more flexible for complex closures such as flip-tops, sports caps and child-resistant caps, and for short runs with frequent changes.

Which caps can a CCMM make?

Typical products are HDPE and PP closures for water and CSD bottles (PCO 1810, PCO 1881, 29/25, 30/25), juice, dairy and edible-oil caps, and larger 38 mm closures. You change the mould set to switch cap type.

What other machines are needed in a cap line?

A complete line typically adds a resin feeding and colour dosing system and a slitting and folding machine to form the tamper-evident band. Optional extras are lining or wadding, cap printing, vision inspection, and conveying and packing. HassanPlas supplies the full line.
